Elsthorpe

St Stephen’s is an attractive, well maintained rural church located in the village of Elsthorpe, close to the beaches of Kairakau and Mangakuri. 

 

Services

Communion services are held at St Stephen's on Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, and the second Sundays of the months of June, August and October.   Services start at 2 pm and often are followed by afternoon tea in the nearby hall.

People of all ages and faiths are welcome to our relaxed country services.

A service is also held at Mangakuri Chapel in February, and the Christmas Eve carol service at Kairakau Beach hall is hugely popular.

Anzac Day

The first Anzac Day service at Elsthorpe was held in 2013.  A large crowd of around 250 people attended, some coming from far afield.  Children from the local school told moving stories about their relatives' war experiences, and photos of serving men and women from the district are displayed in the Hall.
